The information and documentation unit was established at the ACDEP secretariat to document and publish development experiences and innovations in agriculture, primary health and nutrition, gender, advocacy and market access for the poor, and establish and maintain a functional library service / resource centre for the ACDEP network. Currently ACDEP publishes two magazines, the Savanna Farmer and the Northern Health Monitor.

As a development oriented secretariat, the information unit facilitates access to appropriate, relevant and up-to-date information about development issues to enable field officers, programme officers, managers, resource persons, policy makers and other stakeholders who work with ACDEP or for ACDEP to make informed choices and decisions to improve their skills and knowledge in rural community development in Northern Ghana. The unit also strengthens information and communication mechanisms for the secretariat and the network members that enable them to generate knowledge about current development issues and to share the information, ideas and experiences in order to systematically improve planned activities.

The documentation and information unit has a vision of making ACDEP a development oriented information centre of excellence in rural development in Northern Ghana.
